Obituary for Richard Dillinger "Ahja" Chester

Utica, NY/Benson, AZ – Richard Dillinger “Ahja” Chester, 31, passed away unexpectedly, Wednesday, August 2, 2023, at St. Elizabeth Medical Center, in Utica, with his family by his side.

He was born in Rome, NY, July 24, 1992, a son of Clarence R., Jr. and Amy-Lyn (Lacey) Chester. Richard received is primary education in Rome, NY, later relocating to Benson, AZ, where he graduated from Benson High School in May 2012.

Richard was a talented artist who loved to draw and color. He wrote poetry and short stories and shared them with family and friends. Richard was a proud and attentive uncle, who loved all of his nieces and nephews.

He is survived by his mother, Amy-Lyn (Lacey) Chester and her companion, Ramon Valdez, both of Benson, AZ; his father, Clarence R. Chester, Jr. of Rome, NY; a sister and brother-in-law, Acadia and Ryan Sultana of Benson, AZ; a brother, Kyle Harmon of Benson, AZ; three half-brothers, Clarence Chester III, Owen Chester, and Logan Chester, and a half-sister, Crystal Chester all of Rome, NY; his maternal grandmother, Penny Lacey of FL; his paternal grandparents, Clarence, Sr. and Ruth Chester of Rome, NY; several aunts and uncles, including, Richard and Cindy Lacey of Clifton Park, NY, Ira and Melody Lacey of Alton, NH, and Travis Lacey of FL; many nieces and nephews, with a special mention of James Chester, Sereph-Lyn Salomon, and Tamrie Sultana; and cousins. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Richard Lacey; and his step-father, Russell Harmon.
