Obituary for Margaret H. Mariani

Miss Margaret H. Mariani, 61, of New Hartford, passed away Sunday, September 4, 2022.
Born in Utica, October 20, 1960, Margaret was the daughter of the late Frank “Hank” and Christine “Tina” (Albertine) Mariani. Raised in Utica and educated in local schools, Margaret was a 1978 graduate of T.R. Proctor High School. She continued her education at Utica College, where she received a Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism. At one time, she held a position with Tehan’s Catalog Showroom on Commercial Drive in New Hartford, and L & L Discount Office Products. In November of 1990, she accepted a position with the Utica City School District, as a Teachers Assistant, at Albany Street School, in East Utica. She concurrently worked for Ethan Allen Furniture Store until their closing in 1989. Lastly Margaret was employed by the Fleet Answer Center on Horatio St., in Marcy. She left the answer center in 1992, after several years of service.
Margaret is survived by her cousins, John and Victoria Mariani, Rose Mariani and Chad Czerkies, all of Waterville, Kathie and James “Buzz” Hartnagle of Syracuse, Jim and Joann Vellone of Westmoreland, Justin Vellone and Jessica Vellone, and Dr. Angela M. Elefante of Utica. Also surviving are many special friends including, Maryann Moore, Heather Payne, Debbie Fliss, Maryann Snow, Gina Currie, Phil and Kathi Arcuri, and Sam and Anne Arcuri. She was preceded in death by her “best friend forever”, Kathy Carauna, who passed away on November 25, 2008; and her canine companion, J.J. in 2012.
In keeping with Margaret’s wishes, there will be no public visitation. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend her Mass of Christian Burial, Friday morning, September 9, 2022, at 11:00 at Anthony of Padua & St. Agnes Church, in Utica. The family will receive visitors, in church, at the conclusion of services. Interment will take place in Calvary Cemetery at the convenience of the family. Arrangements have been entrusted to Adrean Funeral Service, Inc., Utica, NY.
