Rosemary (Collea) Battey-2022
Syracuse, NY- Mrs. Rosemary (Collea) Battey, formerly of Utica, passed away on Wednesday, July 27, 2022.
Born in Utica, NY, Rosemary was the daughter of the late Dominick and Maryann (Amarosa) Collea. She was raised and educated locally graduating from T.R. Proctor High School. Rosemary continued her education at SUNY Cortland where she earned a Bachelors Degree in Education. On July 14, 1956, she married John B. Battey. The couple shared in a union of over fifty-five years prior to John’s passing on October 10, 2012. Rosemary was employed by the Utica City School District, as a teacher for many years prior to her retirement.
Surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Judith and Chip Pelfrey of Middleburg, FL, and Maryann and Matthew Motala of Baldwinsville, NY; three cherished grandchildren, Shannon and her husband, Tim Viau of Middleburg, FL, McKenna Motala and Alden Motala, both of Baldwinsville, NY; three great-grandchildren; a sister and brother-in-law, Theresa and Roger D’Aprix of Rochester, NY; and her in-laws, Patricia Stanton and Joyce Collea both of New Hartford. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and cousins. She was predeceased in death by a brother, Anthony Collea.
In keeping with Rosemary’s wishes, there will be no public visitation or funeral services. Interment will take place in Calvary Cemetery at the convenience of the family. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Adrean Funeral Service, Inc., 700 Rutger Street, corner of Mohawk Street, Utica, NY.
