Obituary for Michael D. Beha

Michael D. Beha, 1949-2021
New Hartford, NY: Mr. Michael D. Beha, 71, passed away after a courageous battle with cancer, on Wednesday, May 19, 2021, at his home.
Born in Utica, NY, July 27, 1949, Michael was a son of the late Donald A. and Jean (Kelly) Beha. Raised and educated locally, he was a 1967 graduate of UFA. A proud veteran of the Vietnam War, Mr. Beha honorably served his country from 1970-1975, in the US Navy. Upon his honorable discharge, Mike accepted a position with Sears Department Store, from where he retired in 2007, after over 40 years of loyal service. On July 17, 2017, after more than 28 years together, Mike married the former Mary A. (Clark) Briggs, in a private ceremony, at their home, in New Hartford. He was a communicant of Historic Old St. John’s Church and a member of the New Hartford American Legion Post 1376, for more than forty years.
He is survived by his wife, Mary; a step-daughter, Liane Briggs-Seiwald, of SC; a grandson, Jordan Caro, of MD; a granddaughter, Randi Seiwald, of NV; a sister and brother-in-law, Judith and Frank Santo, of MA; 2 brothers and sisters-in-law, Patrick and Michele Beha, of NJ and Timothy and Mary Beha, of Whitesboro; and a brother-in-law, Shawn Sullivan, of MA. He also leaves nieces and nephews, Kelly and Joe Bly, Heather and Gary Reynolds, Jessica Chaffee who was also his special goddaughter and her husband, Blake Chaffee, Christine and Geoff Wendel, Kaitlyn Beha, and Zachary Beha; a great niece; great nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and many special friends, especially acknowledging, Jake and Luann Danella and their family. He was preceded in death by a sister, Deborah Sullivan; and an aunt, Ednamae "Auntie" Kelly.
Mr. Beha’s funeral mass and celebration of life will commence on Friday morning at 10:00, at Historic Old Saint John’s Church, Utica with military honors. Michael’s family wishes to thank his primary care physician, Dr. Bhisham Garg, for his many years of care and guidance. They would also like to acknowledge Mike’s Oncologist, Dr. Atul Butala, his staff, and the nurses and staff of Hospice & Palliative Care, for the genuine concern that was displayed to Mike throughout his illness.
