Obituary for Mariruth L. Cardillo (Azzarito)

Utica, NY-Mariruth L. (Azzarito) Cardillo, age 70, passed away on Sunday, May 24, 2020 at Faxton-St. Luke’s Health Care in New Hartford with her family by her side.
Born in Utica on March 08, 1950, she was the daughter of the late Dominick R. and Emily “Tommy” (Rinaldi) Azzarito. Raised and educated locally, Mariruth was a 1968 graduate of T.R. Proctor High School. She continued her education at the Utica School of Beauty Culture, graduating on May 1, 1970. At one time she was wed to Arthur J. Cardillo.
Mariruth worked as a beautician in various hair salons throughout the area prior to accepting a position at Affair With Hair in New Hartford, where she worked until 1982. She left this position to raise her son Richard who she loved unconditionally.
Surviving are her beloved son: Richard A. Cardillo and his companion Breanna Nelson of San Diego, CA; a brother and sister-in-law, Andrew and Michele Azzarito of Kansas; cousins, including: Leo Chieco of FL, Joanna and Chuck Kelly of Clinton, Paula Collins of SC, and Anthony Alberico of Utica; nieces and nephews, especially acknowledging Theresa (Cardillo) and Eddie West, Michelle and Christopher Maier, Nicole Sergott, and Rachel Sergott; Also surviving are several great nieces, and great nephews; and a very special brother-in-law, Jeff Sergott all of Utica. Mariruth also leaves many special friends including Marc DelBuono, Carol and Frank Cotrupe, and Lolly Buczek. She was preceded in death by her parents, Dominick R. and Emily “Tommy” (Rinaldi) Azzarito; two brothers, Jerry and Richard Azzarito; her mother-in-law and father-in-law; Florence and Pat Cardillo; and a cousin Leonard Chieco; and a very special friend, Kathy Sportelli.
Due to the Covid-19 outbreak there will be no public calling hours or funeral services at this time. Burial will take place in Calvary Cemetery in Utica at the convenience of the family.
