Obituary for Lillian J. Hughes (Critelli)

Mrs. Lillian J. (Critelli) Hughes, age, 92, of New Hartford, passed away on Saturday, January 5, 2019 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center with her family at her side.
She was born in Utica, on January 22, 1926, a daughter of the late Ernest and Carmella “Cora” (Peitroface) Critelli. Lillian was raised and educated locally, where she attended T. R. Proctor High School. At one time, Lillian held a position at Rome Air Force Base. On February 8, 1947, she was united in marriage with John T. “Jack” Hughes. The couple relocated to Long Island in 1955. In 1972, Lillian along with her family, relocated once again to New Jersey, where she held positions with Garden State Community Hospital and West Jersey Health System, Marlton Division, retiring after many years of loyal service. Mr. Hughes passed away on November 4, 1983, after more than 36 years of marriage.
She is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, John T. Hughes, II, of PA and Richard E. Hughes and his wife, Helen Love, of Louisiana; her grandchildren, Stephanie Hughes and her husband, Gregory Minnis, Nicole Hughes, and her husband, David Colmenares, all of CA, Alexander Hughes, of Brooklyn, Jessica Hughes-Milligan, of SC, Julia Hughes, of OH, and John and Daniella Hughes, of CA; three great grandchildren, David Landholt, Lolli Rose Milligan, and Owen James Minnis; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Joseph P. Critelli, and his companion, Lorraine Fasolo and James E. and Catherine M. Critelli, all of Utica. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by infant twin brothers and a sister, Diane Falchi.
In keeping with Lillian’s wishes, there will be no public visitation. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend her Mass of Christian Burial, which will be celebrated on Friday, January 11, 2019, at 12:00 noon, at St. Anthony of Padua and St. Agnes Church. The family will receive visitors in church at the conclusion of services. Interment will take place in Calvary Cemetery, at the convenience of the family. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Adrean Funeral Service, Inc., 700 Rutger St. corner of Mohawk St. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Lillian’s memory, may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
