Robert J. Ellis
Mr. Robert J. Ellis, age 89, of Oriskany Falls, NY, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, April 15, 2018, at his home, in Oriskany Falls.
He was born in Utica on July 7, 1928, a son of the late Joseph and Mary C. (Wells) Ellis. Robert was raised and educated in Utica, where he attended St. Agnes Grammar School and T. R. Proctor High School. Mr. Ellis was a proud U. S. Navy and U. S. Army veteran; he served during WWII and the Korean War.
At one time, Robert was wed to the former Agnes M. Albano. Mr. Ellis retired from Faxton Hospital, on Sunset Ave. in Utica, after many years of loyal service. On November 14, 1969, he married the former Irene (Titsworth) Folts. Irene passed away on May 23, 2009.
He is survived by his beloved daughter, Roberta A. Ellis-McMann, of Utica; his step-children and their spouses, Lynne and Ed Warner, of Clinton, Valarie and Ronald Schenk, of Deansboro, Ellie and Jerry Noe, of Colorado, and Jean Folts, and her husband, Bob Dougherty, of Brookfield; two brothers, John Ellis and his companion, Cora Dickan, both of Oriskany Falls, and Terrence Ellis, of Utica; a sister, Beverly Ellis, of Utica; and a sister-in-law, Faye Ellis, of Colorado; also surviving are many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Robert’s family would like to acknowledge, Tom and Roseanne Gwilt for their continued support throughout their many years of friendship. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by four brothers and a sister-in-law, Donald Ellis, Richard and Audrey Ellis, James Ellis, and Gerald Ellis; and a son-in-law, James P. McMann.
In keeping with Robert’s wishes there will be no public visitation or funeral service. Interment will take place in St. Agnes Cemetery with Military Honors at the convenience of the family.
