Obituary for Suzanne Sbarra (Adrean)

Suzanne Sbarra (Adrean)
Mrs. Suzanne (Adrean) Sbarra, age 96, of New Hartford, passed away peacefully, on Friday, March 16, 2018 at Sitrin Health Care Center where she had been a resident.
Mrs. Sbarra was born in Utica on January 15, 1922, a daughter of the late Louis V. and Cora (Elefante) Adrean. Suzanne was a 1940 graduate of T.R. Proctor High School. She furthered her education at the Utica School of Commerce. It was on September 14, 1946 that she was united in marriage to Nicholas J. Sbarra, a union blessed with over 55 years of marriage. Mr. Sbarra passed away on October 8, 2001. At one time Sue held a position with Utica College as the Assistant Director of Residence. She began a second career with the Municipal Housing Authority as the Executive Secretary to the Director. She retired from this position in 1985 after many years of loyal service.
Sue was a woman of great spirituality and deep faith, she was a long time member of St. Agnes Church prior to their closing. She truly treasured the time that she shared with her family and friends and will forever be remembered and admired for her dedication and generosity.
Suzanne is survived by two devoted sons and daughters-in-law, Philip S., Sr., and Johann Sbarra, of New Hartford, and Nicholas A. Sbarra and his wife Andrea Mrzlikar of Utica; her grandchildren, Adrienne and Bernard Adorino of Frankfort, and Philip, Jr. and Erica Sbarra of Utica; great-grandchildren, Nicholas Adorino, Olivia Sbarra, and Philip Sbarra. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her brother, Thomas L. Adrean, Sr.; and two sisters, Camille Cavallo and Lorraine Rubino.
In keeping with Suzanne’s wishes there will be no public visitation. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend her Mass of Christian Burial which will be celebrated on Wednesday morning, at 10:00 at Our Church of Our Lady of Lourdes on Genesee Street in Utica. The family will receive visitors in church at the conclusion of services. Interment will take place in Calvary Cemetery at the convenience of the family. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Adrean Funeral Service, Inc. 700 Rutger St. Corner of Mohawk St.

The long time and continuous care and guidance displayed by the nurses and staff of the Sitrin Health Care Center was of much comfort to Suzanne’s family.
