Barbara (Ewing) Jiampietro
New Hartford, New York

Mrs. Barbara (Ewing) Jiampietro, age 81, of New Hartford, passed away on Friday, June 30, 2017, at Faxton - St. Luke’s Health Care, with her devoted children at her side.
She was born in Utica, on March 22, 1936, a daughter of the late Arthur and Sally (Piedel) Ewing. Barbara was raised and educated locally, where she graduated from Utica Free Academy. At one time, she had been wed to Joseph R. Jiampietro.
In her early years, Barbara held a position with NY Telephone Co. as a supervisor in the traffic department. After raising her family, she accepted a position with Zogby Analytics, where she most recently worked.
Barbara was an avid equestrian with a great passion for horses and Show Jumping. Her stellar performances at various competitions, awarded her many top honors, awards, and ribbons that she proudly collected.
She cherished her family and friends; and will be remembered as a strong, compassionate, and beautiful woman, who was always available when love, counsel, and support were needed. Barbara emerged through the rough times that life had brought her; these obstacles made her stronger, wiser, and even more resilient. Her death has caused a deep sense of loss among her beloved family and many friends.
She is survived by her two devoted sons and a daughter-in-law, Joseph A. Jiampietro of Weston, VT, and Jeffrey D. and Anna Jiampietro, of Austin, TX; five cherished grandchildren, Jenna Jiampietro, Julia Jiampietro, Jillian Jiampietro, all of Vermont, and Alexandra Jiampietro, and Matthew Jiampietro, both of Austin, TX; and two aunts, Helen Bennett, of Las Vegas and Dolores P. Assaro, of New Hartford.
Barbara’s children and family are truly grateful to Helen Jiampietro, Margie Palladino, and Dominick Jiampietro, for the continued friendship, support, and love they shared with Barbara throughout her life; celebrating the good times and embracing the challenges. Barbara considered them cherished members of her family.
Visitation will be held on Friday afternoon from 4:00-7:00 at Adrean Funeral Service, Inc., 700 Rutger St., corner of Mohawk St., Utica (at the Matt Funeral Home). Barbara's funeral service and Celebration of Life will commence on Saturday morning at 9:00 from the funeral home and at 10:00 at Holy Trinity Church, 1206 Lincoln Ave., Utica, NY 13502. Entombment will take place in Resurrection Chapel Mausoleum, at Holy Trinity Cemetery.
Barbara’s family wishes to thank Dr. Ghassan Koussa for the care and compassion that he displayed to Barbara and her family throughout her illness. They would also like to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff of Faxton-St. Luke’s Health Care, especially acknowledging, Kimberly T. and Brian for the exceptional care and understanding that they displayed through this most difficult time.
