Obituary for Gladys F. Kudrewicz

Gladys F. Kudrewicz
Gladys F. (Czerw) Kudrewicz
New Hartford, NY

Mrs. Gladys F. (Czerw) Kudrewicz, age 95, of New Hartford, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 2, 2017, at her home, with her family by her side.
Born in Utica on May 11, 1922, Gladys was a daughter of the late John and Sofia (Sira) Czerw. Gladys was raised and educated in Frankfort, and graduated from T.R. Proctor High School in Utica. On October 19, 1946, at St. Stanislaus Church in Utica, she was united in marriage to Walter P. Kudrewicz. The couple shared in a fifty-seven-year union filled with love and a strong devotion for each other and their family. Walter passed away on August 27, 2004. At one-time, Gladys held positions with Skenandoah Rayon and the UNIVAC Corporation. Lastly, Gladys worked as a waitress at the Kitlas Restaurant in Frankfort, where she made many friends. She retired from there after many years of loyal service.
Gladys had a genuine love for her family, who always came first, both in her mind and in her heart. She loved to cook and especially bake. She was happiest when her family and friends were all together enjoying good food and laughter. Her family savored her culinary delights, which included, pierogies and her famous zucchini stew. Among her many interests, she enjoyed bingo at the Turning Stone Casino.
She is survived by her devoted daughters and sons-in-law, Marilyn and Rod Zurek, of Utica, and Sherri and Bill Naughton, of North Easton, MA; her cherished grandchildren, Dr. Jill Zurek-Mallozzi and Michael J. Mallozzi, Michael and Megan Zurek, Christopher, Connor, and Caitlin Naughton, Keith and Jocelyn Kudrewicz, Dr. Kristen Kudrewicz, and Drs. Kassie and Rocco Adkins, and seven great-grandchildren. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, godchildren, and her in-laws, Edmund and Eleanor Kudrewicz of Herkimer, and Michelle Kudrewicz, of Las Vegas. She was preceded in death by her son, Dr. Richard W. Kudrewicz, a sister, Stella Gurney Glista; and four brothers, Joe, Ted, Ray, and John Czerw.
Visitation will be held on Friday afternoon from 4:00 to 7:00 at Friedel, Williams, and Edmunds Funeral & Cremation Services, 13 Oxford Road, New Hartford. Gladys’ funeral will be held on Saturday morning at 10:30 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 66 Oxford Road, New Hartford. Interment will take place in St. Stanislaus Cemetery in Whitesboro at the convenience of the family.
Arrangements are under the direction of Adrean Funeral Service, Inc., 700 Rutger Street, Utica.
The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to Gladys’ trusted caregiver and special friend, Traci Gigliotti. The care and compassion that Traci displayed allowed Gladys to remain in her home and keep her independence.
In lieu of floral offerings please consider contributions in Gladys’ memory to Hospice & Palliative Care, Inc., 4277 Middle Settlement Road, New Hartford, NY 13413. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
